Built in 1890, this Victorian terraced villa is in a peaceful and central location of Inverness.
A very popular guest house for many years, it is a short 5 minute walk from the train/bus stations and the Tourist Information office. Local owners Gordon and Catriona Barbour have been in the business for several years and will make you very welcome. Our knowledge of the history of Scotland and in particular Inverness and the Highlands and Islands is exceptional and we are happy to answer all your questions.
We offer a choice of 6 guest bedrooms:
All rooms are Ensuite or with Private facilities.
Please note that a Double room has 1 double bed and is intended for a couple.
A Twin room has 2 separate single beds.
Both family rooms have a double bed and a single bed with the space to add a further portable bed in order to sleep 4.
We are a family-friendly guesthouse and have facilities to cater for children of all ages.
All bedrooms have central heating, remote control TV, radio/alarm clock, hospitality tray with tea/coffee making facilities/biscuits/sweets and a hairdryer.
The traditional dining room is elegant and bright with Victorian architectural features.
We serve a delicious breakfast between 8am and 9am with many choices either cooked, or from our expansive buffet. Our traditional full cooked Scottish breakfast is exceptional. All produce is of the best quality, locally sourced and organic (when possible).
For early breakfasts, we provide a nutritious takeaway packed breakfast.
To relax please use our residents lounge located on the first floor. This traditional Victorian drawing room with its bay window gives views to the Black Isle, Moray Firth and beyond.
With comfortable couches and an expansive selection of books to choose from you can spend an enjoyable evening in comfort. A real home from home the lounge has a large screen digital TV, games consoles, DVDs and traditional board games for the whole family to enjoy.
We will recommend tours and the best places to visit. Our personally produced room guides include details on eating out and walks around the city of Inverness.
We enjoy making new acquaintances and talking about the part of the world where you come from.
Our aim is to offer excellent value for money while making no compromises on quality. We look forward to welcoming you to our city and our guest house!
Our guests just love the location of the Crown. The street is very quiet as it is seldom used by city traffic. There are 2 easy pedestrian routes that reach the city centre in much less than 5 minutes. The Castle can be viewed as you walk down Raining's Stairs (nothing to do with the weather but a former Inverness resident) and very quickly you can be walking along the banks of the river.
The Crown area is a popular residential part of Inverness, actually close to the site of a cattle market some 200 years ago. The market has been a car park for many years now but this accounts for some of the names in the area, such as the Market Brae Steps that lead up to Ardconnel Street.
